How to practice Exogenous ketones
Use occasionally for cognitive or endurance boost: 10–25 g ketone salts or 20–30 g ketone esters. Take on an empty stomach for better absorption. Hydrate well to offset salt content. Avoid daily reliance; benefits are transient and not a replacement for dietary improvements. Useful for short-term energy during fasting or travel.
The evidence behind Exogenous ketones
Exogenous ketones provide alternate brain fuel (β-hydroxybutyrate), which may improve energy efficiency and reduce oxidative stress. Small human studies show temporary boosts in endurance and mental clarity, but effects fade as levels normalize. Long-term safety and neuroprotective effects are unproven. Salts can cause GI discomfort and excess sodium load; esters are costly but more effective.
