How to practice R-lipoic acid
Take 100–300 mg/day with meals to enhance absorption. Combine with ALCAR (500–1,000 mg) for complementary support. Monitor blood sugar if diabetic or on insulin. Mild nausea can occur at higher doses.
The evidence behind R-lipoic acid
R-lipoic acid enhances mitochondrial energy generation and reduces oxidative stress. Human studies show improved nerve and vascular function and possible cognitive benefit in older adults or diabetics. It crosses the blood–brain barrier efficiently and works synergistically with ALCAR. Evidence is moderate and safety is good.
