Key takeaways:

This week, we're unpacking the science behind ApoB (and why it matters for your brain), sharing an inspiring member story about taking control of cognitive health, and breaking down the latest science on dementia prevention. Whether you're curious about your biomarkers or looking for practical ways to protect your brain, we've got you covered.

 Featured Biomarker

ApoB: Counting Bad Cholesterol Particles

What it is: Apolipoprotein B (ApoB) represents the number of LDL (low-density lipoprotein) particles circulating in your bloodstream, and is a more accurate measure than LDL-C, which is more typically tested.. Elevated levels indicate a higher number of potentially harmful particles that can lead to plaque buildup in arteries.

Why it matters: High ApoB levels increase risk of atherosclerosis, heart disease, and stroke. But many don't know ApoB also significantly impacts your risk of dementia, on the order of 20-30%.

How to improve it: While exercise has limited impact on ApoB, some diet tweaks can help for some people — such as reducing saturated far or simple carb intake. For those with persistently high levels, lipid lowering medications can effectively lower ApoB when lifestyle changes aren't enough.
